Blindfold Games at BVA

When I attended VisionServe in May, I had the opportunity to meet with Joseph Bogart, the executive director of the Blinded Veterans Association.  He suggested that I attend the BVA conference in Reno, and talk about Blindfold Games to the veterans who attend the conference.

I met dozens of veterans active in the BVA, and explained how many of the game are used not just for entertainment, but also for skill building: practicing voiceover gestures, signification, fine motor skills and spatial concepts.

This caught the attention of many VIST coordinators and educators.  At the Nugget Casino in Reno, there was a simultaneous conference for the Veterans Administration.  Their Visual Impairment Services Team (VIST) Coordinators are case managers who have responsibility for the coordination of services for severely disabled visually impaired Veterans and active duty Servicemembers.

We will be working with VIST coordinators in cities across the U.S. to use the skill-building apps within Blindfold Games help these veterans.
